AWEC is the only nonprofit in Dallas-Fort Worth — and one of very few nationally — teaching LMI and underserved entrepreneurs to acquire existing businesses using institutional acquisition financing. Our three-stage sequential program takes you from financial foundation to qualified business buyer.
Every participant follows the same sequential pathway. No choosing tracks — each stage builds on the last, taking you from financial literacy to a qualified buyer ready to acquire a business and sustain jobs in your community.

The shared prerequisite for all participants. This foundation stage establishes the financial literacy, credit positioning, and business structure knowledge that every aspiring business buyer needs before pursuing institutional capital.
Capital readiness and bankability training. This stage transforms participants into institutionally financeable business owners that lenders want to work with. Learn what banks look for and how to position yourself for approval.

The complete business acquisition training. Learn to identify acquisition targets, structure deals, negotiate seller notes, conduct due diligence, and access institutional capital. Graduate as a qualified buyer ready to acquire an existing business.
AWEC's program is designed for individuals ready to transition from working for someone else to owning a business that already works.
Transitioning from military service to civilian business ownership. Your leadership and discipline translate directly to running an acquired business.
Moving from hourly employment to business ownership. Buying an existing business means starting with revenue from day one — not building from scratch.
LMI entrepreneurs who have been excluded from traditional business ownership pathways. AWEC teaches the institutional financing route that builds real wealth.
Applications are open for the next cohort. Take the first step toward business ownership through acquisition.
